THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) SEATTLE CAPTAIN (D Ashby) was fractious at the start and reared as it was being led into the starting stall. Trainer Mrs C Bass-Robinson will be advised to have this gelding reschooled before its next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10.
b) Fair start.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: (TN)
a) SEATTLE CAPTAIN (D Ashby) was fractious, reared, dislodged the rider, and was led to the start by the lead pony. Trainer Mrs C Bass-Robinson will be advised that should this gelding behave in a similar manner in future engagements it may be suspended.
b) In view of the performance from GATES (*B May) (43.00 lengths), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the colt on its return the unsaddling enclosure and submit a report.
c) At about the 200m VERDIER (R Fourie) shifted out and brushed PERGOLA (G Cheyne). Thereafter at the 100m PERGOLA (G Cheyne) shifted in and brushed VERDIER (R Fourie). A Member of the Stipendiary Board called for a race review and after reviewing the patrol films took no further action.
d) VERDIER (R Fourie), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer B Marcus, who acted on behalf of Trainer A N Marcus, was advised. (SN)
