THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) BIG CHIEF (C Orffer) spread the left fore shoe on the way to the start, which the farrier repaired.
b) DEVOUT (D Ashby) was slow losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride.
c) BEEHAAR (F Herholdt) and SEA PASS (O Noach) jumped awkwardly losing one length and thereafter were slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: (CvA)
a) BEEHAAR (F Herholdt) raced green.
b) At about the 900m GLORIOUS GOODWOOD (R Fourie) was carried out and forced to ease off the heels of BIG CHIEF (C Orffer) when DEVOUT (D Ashby), which raced green shifted out on the bend.
c) Approaching the 100m LODE RUNNER (D Dillon) steadied momentarily when WINE DARK SEA (J Jordaan) shifted in slightly away from the crop.
d) VOLATILE ENERGY (G van Niekerk), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer Mrs M Arnold, who acted on behalf of Trainer Mrs C L Bass-Robinson, was advised. (SN)
