THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) COLONEL BLUFF (G Cheyne) spread the right fore shoe on the way to the start, which the farrier repaired. The Veterinary Surgeon examined the colt and declared it fit to race.
b) GIMME ONE NIGHT (S Cele) was slow losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride.
c) DOUBLE J (S Veale) and HERNANDO’S PROMISE (M J Byleveld), which was slow losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride, made contact shortly after the start.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: (CvA)
a) Jockey D Ashby (ONE LIFE LIVE IT) reported that this gelding did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the gelding on its return to the unsaddling enclosure and submit a report.
b) In view of the performance from FLYING GITANO (R Fourie) (23.00 lengths), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the gelding on its return to the unsaddling enclosure and submit a report.
c) At about the 500m IMPERIAL CAPTAIN (G van Niekerk) clipped the heels of KING OF ACES (A Domeyer) and stumbled losing position.
d) Jockey S Cele (GIMME ONE NIGHT) dropped his crop leaving the 100m.
e) GIMME ONE NIGHT (S Cele), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer B Crawford was advised. (SN)

a) ONE LIFE LIVE IT (D Ashby) returned unlevel on the right hind, was making an abnormal respiratory noise and with a wound on the forehead.
b) FLYING GITANO (R Fourie) was inspected post race and no significant findings were detected.
