THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) BOY SCOUT (A Fortune), which was restless in the stalls, broke through the front stall gate, dislodged the rider and bolted back to the parade ring. The colt was subsequently withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon causing a delay. Trainer E L P Steyn will be advised that this colt’s starting stall certificate has been withdrawn in terms of Rule 61.6.10.
b) The field was unloaded until BOY SCOUT had been caught and secured.
c) TELAMON (S Cele) was fractious, reared in the stalls, which resulted in the rider being unable to stay in the saddle, the gelding had to be taken out of the starting stalls during the second loading procedure and was withdrawn, intractable, causing a further delay. Trainer W G Prestage will be advised that this gelding’s starting stall certificate has been withdrawn in terms of Rule 61.6.10.
d) ROSSINI ROYALE (J Jordaan) was reluctant to load. Trainer G S Kotzen will be advised to have this colt reschooled before its next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10.
e) ONE DIRECTION (R Fourie) and PERGOLA (D Ashby) were restless in the stalls. Trainers S J Snaith and J M T Stewart will be advised to have their horses reschooled before their next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: (TN)
a) Jockey K Zechner (JOZI KING) reported that this colt did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the colt on its return to the unsaddling enclosure and submit a report.
b) COPPER FORCE (G Cheyne), GIANTINMYHEART (*S Fortune), RAISED SAIL (F Herholdt), RISKY RAMBO (X Carstens) and SILVER SPUR (G van Niekerk) raced green.
c) At about the 350m POP THE QUESTION (C Orffer) steadied off the heels of BEAU BRUMMELL (A Andrews).
d) ROCK OF AFRICA (L Africa), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer Miss A Alsop, acting on behalf of Trainer V H Marshall, was advised. (SN)
