Rhys van Wyk...

...sends out Special Cargo, his first runner as a licensed trainer on Saturday, 14 July at Turffontein. The 7 year old gelding will be ridden by 4kg claimer, Nicola Welch, in an MR 80 apprentice handicap over 1200m.

Rhys started off as an apprentice rider to his father, the astute H J J Van Wyk, and went on to became one of the most skilled riders ever to race in South Africa.

Rhys was known for his versatility in being able to ride equally as well from the front as from behind.
