...rode for all he was worth to get up and win the 9th race at
Turffontein over 1400m.
Figueroa was seen at his best on the
Brian Wiid runner,
Paradzi, just catching the Zaki
trained Hurricane Silver (AUS) in the final moment of the race.
During the running of this race, Figueroa was seen tracking
the front running Hurricane Silver. Figgi was about one
and a half lengths behind Hurricane Silver with 400 to go;
meanwhile, Striker The Great had the favorite going nice and
easy toward the line. In the last 100, Figgi made his final run, and
the two horses crossed the line as one and it was difficult to tell
with the naked eye who had won for sure. The photo showed Paradzi
just got the verdict.
Guilermo Figueroa is a natural horseman and I rate him with
the best in the country. Figueroa is a master judge of timing and pace
and it would not be a bad idea for our academy to send some of our
apprentices to certain South American countries for additional
training on an exchange program .
